I get a lot of questions about how we eat.
We strive to eat NO grains (this includes corn, oatmeal, and all the grains the FDA deems as healthy) and NO sugar (in any form, other than what naturally occurs in whole foods). We also do not eat processed foods. Dustin is much more strict than I am. Mama will never give up chocolate or booze, let’s be serious. Any time we go off our ordinary way of eating and indulge in, say, a breadstick or cupcake, we ensure it’s worth it. In other words, I’m not messing around with box mix cupcakes or a stale bag of chips. I’ll eat something completely delicious and typically homemade.
Y’all, we do not suffer. We eat like royalty. And on a budget as well. We spend $120 or less each week for our family of five (plus sometimes my dad). Our kids do still eat some processed foods, but we are slowly backing them off it and finding acceptable substitutes. I am super excited about all the dietary changes that we are taking on this year!
As far as my progress goes, I went off the wagon for a bit, getting crazy and having too much wine, a coke, a cream soda, a handful of chips… y’all, that stuff adds up – FAST.
I kinda hate myself for where I am right now. I had myself goaled to hit 127 today. WRONG. I’m at 136. I let this happen. No excuses. So last night, in the cold, I ran. And I will eat the best I can at a Super Bowl party. I can do this! I can get SKINNNNNNNY!

I’m so proud of you!

Holy crap! What an amazing transformation! You look great! You should totally post what your typical meal day looks like – I’m curious! I eat way too much processed food. And I don’t ever think I could give up carbs, but I do want to try to start eating healthier.

Thanks Ariel! I am definitely still a work in progress.
I have had a lot of requests for meal ideas and grocery lists, so I’m doing a post on that next Friday!
I didn’t think I could give up carbs either – and I still eat them occasionally – but it turned out to be pretty easy after the first couple of weeks.
