Hump Day [Photo] Dump Day

I have so many random pictures on my phone and had intended to fully blog about some of them. But ya know what? It’s just not happening. Too much going on this holiday week. So instead, you get lots of photos, some with explanations, some without.

Harper shared his train with Quentin.

Sharing is hard. Harper fell asleep here that night.

This was the first day I got dressed in something other than maternity pants… new yoga pants.

I’ve also been pairing my yoga pants with men’s flannel, because my stuff doesn’t fit.

My new favorite, Chicken Parmesan Bake. Recipe coming soon. In fact, I have lots of new recipes to add to the “Simple Recipes” page.

Oh yeah. That happened.

Loving cloth diapers more and more every day.

Quentin hates tummy time…

… but loves resting on the floor after.

Nick has been playing a lot on the Wii, with his tongue sticking out.

I got dressed and did my hair for Nick’s Kindergarten Christmas program. That’s always news.

Always with the weird faces.

Wrapped teacher gifts with NOTHING wrapping-related, since I forgot to get anything. Used mark. delivery bags and covered the logo with scrapbook paper and free printables. The gift was body lotion from mark and rhinestone-studded pencils, if you’re curious.

Just a funny example of the weirdness that abounds in our home. Irreverence and reverence sharing a wall.

This little dude has been smiling at me!!!! The highlight of my life!

Nursery Peek

Quentin’s nursery took a backseat to actually taking care of HIM for awhile. I’m back to working on the finishing touches before I reveal the final result. But the part I’m most proud of, I can no longer keep under wraps! Here is his dresser before and after!

The dresser originally was in my dad’s house for many years, then we took it over, using it in Nick and Harper’s room. It was beat-up and boring. My mom bought a new dresser for Quentin’s room as a gift to us. For the big boys, we were going to paint the old dresser orange. Well, once the new dresser was put together we realized it didn’t look right in Quentin’s room and was a bit too large. So we put the new dresser in their room and painted the old one for Quentin’s room.

Huge difference and such an inexpensive project! My mom already had the gray paint from something she did at her home. The hardware was sprayed with Krylon oil-rubbed bronze. Our only cost was the spray paint! I was 9 months pregnant when this was completed, so my mom did the sanding and first coat of paint while I deep-cleaned the room. We ran out of time and I ended up doing the 2nd coat, which was fine. I’m so excited.

I can’t wait to show y’all the whole room. It is everything I imagined and more!

Special Bump Report – 41 Weeks

Well, I will be induced Monday if Quentin doesn’t come on his own. I’m having lots of mixed emotions, but mostly anxiety. I really wanted to avoid an induction this time. Also, even at 41 weeks, I feel super unprepared! I really need to get it together and get some stuff done with a quickness! I JUST TODAY got his carseat ready to go! His room still needs some work, and the rest of my house? Oh, the horror! All I know is, this weekend is dedicated to wrapping up my procrastinator’s to-do list! Here’s just a sample of it:

- Grocery shop
- Pick up champagne
- Get last-minute baby supplies
- Exchange diapers
- Finish Quentin’s wall art and hang other stuff
- Clean Quentin’s room completely
- Clean floors and bathrooms

That’s just a small section of what needs to be done. I need to do some work on my mark business, complete some paperwork for my leave at work, and get a couple of random things done around the house.

Bump Report – Week 36

How Far Along: 36 Weeks

Total Weight Gain/Loss: I went back to not looking at the scale at my appointment today.

Maternity Clothes: I still only have a few pieces of true maternity. And now, with just 4 weeks left, I don’t want to spend anything on maternity, so I’m slowly buying pieces I can wear after baby.

Gender: boy

Movement: Still morphing my belly like a little alien.

Sleep: Not sleeping well at. all. And I wake up often with drool alllll over me. So attractive.

What I miss: Have had a few days lately where a cocktail would have been super nice.

Cravings: Nothing really. Just don’t let me get hungry.

Symptoms: So much heartburn, constant pelvic pressure, swelling, and increasing Braxton Hicks contractions. A few real contractions thrown in with some searing back pain for good measure.

Best Moment This Week: My mom got us a dresser for the nursery, which has been a huge source of anxiety for me!

Well, this is where shit starts to get real. Tomorrow starts the month my child is predicted to arrive! I can’t believe how fast the last few weeks have gone by. It’s time I got real with myself and make a list for what needs to be purchased and done in the coming weeks.

I had an OB appointment today. Heartbeat is good and all that jazz. I had the swab for Group B Strep. I am going to be really anxious until I get the results. I am obviously hoping for negative, but I was positive with both previous pregnancies, so I’m going to assume I’m positive. If not, it will just be a happy surprise. I just hate that it will cause me to have more interventions that I wanted with this labor and delivery experience. The doctor checked my cervix to see if anything is going on… it isn’t. No dilation, no effacement, nothing. I’m not surprised. That is definitely my normal. I go back next Thursday and will have an ultrasound to check for position and growth.

Nick had to come home from school early Monday morning and go to the doctor. He has a double ear infection. Just thankful to have a great pediatrician, a trooper of a kid, and good insurance! Thanks to antibiotics, he’ll be better in no time!

It’s amazing what a simple change can do. When we moved into our rental house, there were already (cheap, ugly) shower curtains in place. We’ve been meaning to replace them since the day we moved in. In the hall bathroom, where nobody ever showers, we just ripped out the old one and have been taking our time in replacing it. In our master bathroom, the ugly, dirty shower curtain was driving me crazy. However, I’m super particular about what goes into my house, which is why things rarely get decorated before we move to a new place. Also, who knew shower curtains were so expensive?! I stumbled across one I LOVED in TJ Maxx over the weekend. And for a bonus? It was $3.99! I snagged it and some ball bearing curtain rings. I can’t believe the huge difference.

It has me inspired to finish decorating this tiny bathroom!

I am so sleepy lately and there’s nothing I can do to combat it. I have been going to bed between 9 and 11 the last week, which is highly unusual for me. Even so, I am completely dead the next day. This baby is just not letting me get much sleep.

I love a fun mail day and yesterday on my way to work, I stopped by the post office to pick up fun packages! Great way to start the day! I got a package full of mark. samples and products for my customers and another package from my scarf swap partner. Friday, you’ll see what a received in my scarf package. How fun!

Nick was diagnosed with a double ear infection Monday morning and stayed home from school Monday and Tuesday. Thanks to his own persistence, he stayed on top of his homework, sick and all! So proud of my little scholar. And he’s much better now after a couple days of antibiotics.

Hump Day Dump Day

I have been sick the past few days and today I woke up feeling a tad better. I even put on makeup. I probably wouldn’t have bothered, actually, but I happened to get in a mark. package yesterday and I’m always itching to try out my new stuff! Check out my new i-Mark shadow! The color in the crease is Retro Peacock. It blew my mind with how intense the pigments are! The lighting in this photo is terrible. The color comes out much brighter on the lids than what is represented here. But to give you an idea of the intense pigmentation, I seriously just tapped my shadow brush on the color twice, then swiped on ALL this color!

I am completely ready for the weekend already! I have so much positive stuff on my agenda… Date night with the Hubs, shopping for a shower dress, working on the nursery clean-out, and starting Mad Men.

I am always and forever hungry. Then I eat and get full and find myself hungry 20 minutes later. It’s really getting old.

It has been decided that I’m going to go back to school in 2012. Too bad I can’t figure out exactly what I want to do. I’m torn between finishing a bachelor’s and going to cosmetology school. Two completely different routes and I just can’t make up my mind!

I can not get in more than 6 hours of sleep lately and it’s not working for me. When I’m not pregnant, I do just fine with 5. Not now!

We have been having trouble with Nick doing what he is supposed to at school. He’s not doing his work and not listening to his teachers. We’re keeping an eye on it and I’m trying not to get ahead of myself, but I’m a bit worried about him possibly having ADD. Only time will tell if this is just an adjustment period or if something bigger is going on.

I have too much that I want and need to do, that sometimes I find myself completely overwhelmed. Dustin and I talked about it over the weekend and decided we’re just going to have to get organized and tackle projects around the house head-on…with the aid of lots of lists! Wish us luck!

Over the weekend was my cousin’s baby shower. Saturday, I was all packed and ready, about to head out the door with my family to my hometown an hour away, where the shower was. We had plans to spend the night with my mom and I would go to the shower Sunday. Just as I was leaving the house, mom called to inform me that the shower was RIGHT NOW. We had our days mixed up! I was super upset and disappointed! There was nothing that could be done about it though, so we just went on to mom’s anyway.

Though we missed the shower, we dropped off our gifts Sunday. My gift was a canvas wall art that I poured my heart into!

1. My kids don’t have baby books. I don’t know when their first steps were, when they said their first words. I don’t even know exactly what their birth weights were. I do, however, have a manila envelope full of stuff for each. I plan to make a shadowbox for a few key mementos per child and the rest will go in a box.

2. It is now imperative that I buy some “his and hers” towels. Whether they’re monogrammed or we’re just assigned our own color, I can no longer use my lovely husband’s towels. Any time I pick up the wrong towel, I end up with fine, freshly shaven hairs all over me. They poke me all day long.

3. I noticed this morning when I was reaching for my deodorant that we always have 2 sticks each. Dustin tends to buy a twin pack so he doesn’t have to think about it for awhile. I’m a coupon shopper, so I often end up with a couple. Right now, I have an unscented (my preference) and a clean shower scent. The unscented is my every day deodorant and I use the scented one when I don’t yet have time for a shower. Nice, huh?

4. Over the weekend, Nick and I did a quick bed rearranging. Their beds were parallel, but we decided there needed to be more play space. They are in love with this set up! I actually like it a lot too.

5. Another mini project I tackled over the weekend was a jewelry storage solution that cost me $0. When we first moved into this house, there were little gold hooks everywhere, in the most random of places! so I took these out of the bottom of a kitchen cabinet and out of the trim around our closet door (?!) and put them to work! all the hooks are full now and I’m kinda loving it. I’m thinking I’ll even construct a frame around it for prettiness, since we no longer have closet doors (ripped out those baby-finger-smashing accordion doors months ago).

6. My kid eats now! Harper has always been a great eater, but Nick was another story. All he ever wanted was fast finger foods – crackers, cookies, chips, nuggets, fries, rolls. We finally put our feet down almost 2 weeks ago and it has paid off! He has even found things he LOVES, which I didn’t expect. It has not been easy for any of us and we’re still having to work hard at it, but I feel so good about how far we’ve come! Look, here he is eating ice cream (yeah, he really didn’t like ice cream. Too much work, I guess?)

Quentin’s room

I’m nearing my third trimester now and I’m ashamed to say that I am totally unprepared for baby Q! If he came early, I’d be in a heap of trouble! I know that babies really only need a place to sleep, diapers, and food. That being said, you should see Quentin’s room. We’ve been trying to clean it out, as it currently serves as storage. That’s not as easy as you would think, though. More than half the stuff in the room needs to be donated or sold. I am so close to just bagging it all up and tossing it out, but some of it is pretty valuable. I have been slowly listing stuff on eBay and Craigslist, but I’m just not fast enough. I’ve been hit by a lot of pregnancy pains lately, making my productivity slow to a crawl. When I actually have energy, I have to use it to play with my kids or clean the kitchen. I’d love for that nesting to kick in!

Well, I have done a little work since that was snapped, but it’s still a crazy mess, and definitely looks nothing like a peaceful place for a baby to sleep! I have a few plans for moving things around this weekend. Let’s hope I don’t get derailed!

Now, on to the fun stuff! I started an inspiration board for the room, but somehow lost that file completely. So let me share with you some images that are inspiring me. I am going for gray, yellow, and turquoise in the room, with no real theme. I like things quite simplistic.
